Taking it too far…?

Ok, so yesterday I wrote a bit on decorating and how such a simple thing can truly make a difference in how we feel about the holidays. Well, we did our small thing, and it was fine, but there are people who take it way too seriously, right? OMG….

Oh yeah, my dad would have scoffed at that blatant waste of time and energy and electricity … all the work to tear it all down later….and the inconvenience of the traffic, and blah blah blah…..

Oh, he would have ranted on about that for days!! (insert eye roll)

But wait! 

Sometimes someone takes a little thing—and they do it with excellence! And with PASSION! They think about it all year and plan it out and joyfully design every detail and totally get into it. And then they revel in the joy on kids’ faces and the marveling adults who are taken by such a grand display! (or maybe scoffing under their breath too)! But what if that was the highlight of the whole Christmas? The pure joy and amazement of somebody putting so much into it PURELY for the enjoyment of others! WHOA- that’s the unbelievable part! It’s a joy to see the delight in the discovery of each detail, magically being swept away by the beauty of it all!

Literally HUNDREDS of people come to see this marvelous display in Santa Rosa each year! How cool is that?

Inspiration is at the heart of any display of excellence and art. Even if you have no interest in doing anything like it- seeing the creative expression sparks creativity and awe in the people who see it.  Imagine the possibilities!

[My mom and I were in pure awe at this marvelous display of lights and creativity! It was pure inspiration and magic. The kind that takes you away… What a highlight to our Christmas Adventure! #somemorable]

The challenge (and the lesson here) is this: find your passions and go after them with reckless abandon. Some will love it, some will mock you, but if you are pursuing your authentic passion, it is GOOD, no matter what others say!
