LPS Saved the Day
LUMIX Pro Services….
It’s pretty important that we have insurance on our cant-live-without items in our lives. And it’s good to have a good emergency back-up plan for when something unfortunate happens- like AAA for your vehicle if you ever break down. When you need transportation, you just need [safe] transportation, right? And there are things that a “reasonable substitute” just won’t do! Like your comfy broken-in hiking boots just can’t be replaced with a brand new pair the day before you hike the grand canyon. Blisters WILL occur!!
Or if you shoot weddings, you NEED your tried-and-true equipment that you know like the back of your hand. The camera you can operate in your sleep—the lenses and tools that are an extension of your creative vision, right? We should ALL have backups of those things, for sure, because “stuff” DOES happen!!
So, I recently packed my Lumix Full Frame S1 and 24-105 in an “extra” camera bag before a trip and turned aside to grab something else…. The camera bag (a wimpy sling that was NOT the good TENBA bag I usually carry) gave way on the bottom and slowly tipped over dumping the camera and lens totally upside down, falling about 36” down onto the cement floor. Augh. And it was just a few days before I was going to shoot a wedding down in Southern California. A rock formed in the pit of my stomach….
But I had the wonderful opportunity to try out the LPS Platinum Service: LUMIX Pro Services, where they will fix your camera, and even loan you an identical replacement if you need it! Needless to say, I jumped online and filled out the forms, and the interface even knew what lenses and cameras I owned. (of course, I had registered them when I signed up months ago). In a short time I had forms, shipping labels, and even a personal follow-up call to verify everything was taken care of! Timing was too close for comfort to guarantee the repair in time for the wedding so they shipped me a loaner set to be sure. Bonus: the repaired one DID arrive in time, so I ended up with an extra body/lens to use that day!
I was delighted with the service and the assurance it gave me ~ LPS literally saved the day! I am making sure to add my other new cameras so if this ever happens again, the process can be as quick and painless as this was.
