Love Affair with Color
Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s one of my very favorite holidays and I typically send out lots of cards, or at least texts to my loved ones and friends. It’s just a sweet excuse to celebrate LOVE. Love of people or love of anything right? Like COLOR!!
I started on a new book about my trip to Seattle last year where I was filmed for a Panasonic Lumix video. [I will be sharing that soon]. But part of the reason we chose Seattle, was the Space Needle area, Chihuly Gardens and the MoPOP, Museum of POP Art!
LOTS OF COLOR, right? “My Story” is all about the search for color and beauty all around us.
Our goal was to capture that passion for creativity, photographic expression and my color-craze.
Most people have “A Color” that is a favorite. And if I were pressed, I guess I would have to choose REDS. But that needs to include the whole range of reds: magenta, coral, raspberry, pink, fuschia, orange, persimmon, cotton candy. Like the whole Red/Pink palette!
But the truth is, I am completely drawn to the rainbow of colors. ALL the colors on the color wheel. Any combination of the full range is what turns my head and makes me grope for the camera!
First let me say, if you are a color-freak, you need to visit Chihuly Glass Museum. It is color and glass and design on steroids! But because we were filming and copyright issues would prevent us from using the footage shot there, we chose other places like Pike Place Public Market and the outside of MoPOP! Even with the hazy overcast weather, we found so much color I was squealing half the time!
In this project, I only carried a tiny point-and-shoot camera called the ZS200 by LUMIX. Pocket sized and powerful like a little mighty-mouse, this little camera was a blast. I was unable to carry any other gear because I was being filmed. I also HAD to Just shoot and have fun and explore!! OMG- it was the most fun I had shooting in a long time!
So, before I ramble on too long, check out these images that were all captured at the Pike’s Place Market. A Plethora of Colors, Textures and shapes! Photography makes my heart sing.
