2-22-22
I’ve always been one to celebrate numbers and pay attention to significant patterns I see in life. Two’s happen to be a biggie over the past 18 years and so today is begging to be one of those significant benchmarks. A good day to begin again. To do better. To hit the mark. To persevere. To try again. Or as Benjamin Franklin said, “Either do something worth writing or write something worth reading.”
Unfortunately, today was a traveling day from Destin Florida to Sacramento, CA. A very long travel day that took almost 12 hours. Honestly, there’s not enough left of me to say much about this date. But I DO want to mention I just wrapped up 4 days at SYNC, the Senior and Youth National Conference for photography. It is championed by two amazing faith-filled friends, Darty and Michele Hines, and it is truly the best photo event I attend each year. I’m delighted to have spoken there in past years and attended as the Lumix Rep for them multiple times. Even Ms Bubble Trailer got to be a guest at the first SYNC-UP in 2019! This year (as always) I’m leaving with so much inspiration and challenge! My head is spinning with ideas and ambition!
This year brought a sweet connection with new and old friends, (which I will share later) and a bundle of inspiration that hit home just where it was needed. I’m still refining my list of what I want to be known FOR… (and how close it is to what I AM known FOR)—a powerful concept from Jeff Henderson, the keynote speaker on opening night.
I reconnected with one of the most fabulous photographic artists I know, AnnieMarie and loved her program. Her imagery and styling is pure inspiration!
And a simple yet profound statement from Kat McClure and Allison Russell, first time speakers at SYNC: “I never fail. I either succeed or learn.”
One of the most inspiring thoughts/questions is this, from Erica Morrow’s program; a quote by Elizabeth Gilbert: “So this, I believe, is the central question upon which all creative living hinges: Do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you?”
That quote alone stopped me in my tracks.
Living without fear… somehow it seems to creep in.
So today is a new start for courage and clarity- with a heart full of ideas and images I can’t wait to create and share. Reinvention is the path to relevance and reward, and we need to continually recenter our focus to stay on that path.
